Final Victory
Peshawar Zalmi emerged victorious in yet another thrilling match, defeating Islamabad United by an inning. Azam and Munro’s gung-ho was when Peshawar was totally out of it. They were cruising toward the goal as they shared a partnership of 108 runs for the fourth wicket. As Munro gave him excellent praise, Azam had already reached his fastest half-century of this tournament in just 21 balls. Nevertheless, Peshawar had hope when Naveen got Azam for a significant wicket with the final delivery of his spell.
When Arif Yaqoob entered the field to bowl the penultimate 19th over, he completely shifted the balance of power in Peshawar’s favor. He took four wickets in the over, leaving Islamabad requiring 19 runs from the last over. Irshad received a maximum strike, but he maintained his composure to help his team win. While Azam was in a murderous mood, smashing his way to 75 off just 30 balls with 6 boundaries and 6 maximums, Colin Munro at the top of the order was outstanding as he scored 71 runs off 53 balls and held the innings together. However, in the end, neither of these innings was enough for their team to win.
