Shaheen Afridi Lahore Salandars Caption

An impartial panel has selected Shaheen Shah Afridi of Lahore Qalandars to be the captain of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 team. The panel was led by Haroon Rashid, the head of the technical committee, and featured commentators Bazid Khan, Daren Ganga, Nick Knight, and Sana Mir.

In 2016, Azhar Ali led the Qalandars as their inaugural captain. When Ali was injured during that season, DJ Bravo managed a match in his place. Brendon McCullum became captain the next year, in 2017, and he stayed in that position until 2019. The team had three different captains in 2019. Fakhar Zaman, AB de Villiers, and Mohammed Hafeez. 2020 saw Sohail Akhtar take over as captain, a role he held until 2022 when Shaheen Afridi took over. The Qalandars won two titles under Afridi’s leadership: their first in 2022 and their second in 2023.

After he left, Aaqib Javed took over as coach and has stayed in that position ever since. Javed was a medium-pacer for Pakistan when he played for the national squad at the 1992 Cricket World Cup. Between 1988 and 1998, he played for Pakistan in 163 One Day Internationals and 22 Tests. Before making the switch to coaching, Javed was the head coach of Pakistan’s U-19 squad and the head coach of the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

There are now two distinct shirts available in the Lahore Qalandars 2024 uniform. Lahore Qalandars have one shirt in green and another in red and black. Both shirts have black pants. The Lahore Qalandars’ elegant uniform is incredibly appealing. In the first few games, players will wear green shirts, and in the final few, red shirts.
